Winter is coming …
And that means cold temperatures and harsh winds ahead.
Not the best season for your skin.
Luckily I have my DIY Beauty care packet all ready to go.
I made my own Beauty essentials and you can too!
1. Softer than butter Lip Balm
The cold weather outside followed by the heating inside makes the skin around my lips very fragile. With a beeswax lip balm I keep the eczema flares at bay.
This lip balm in a jar is based on my DIY tinted lip butter recipe.
For this version I melted 1/2 tsp. of beeswax, 1 tsp. of mango butter and 1 tsp. of coconut oil together. Then I poured it in a small container to cool down.
2. One swipe eye makeup remover wipes
With all that rain pouring down lately I like to use waterproof mascara. To remove that said waterproof makeup in one swipe I have a secret weapon: my homemade one ingredient eye makeup remover wipes.
And the best part, to make these you only need one simple ingredient you probably already have in your kitchen right now: coconut oil!
See how you can make your own easy DIY eye makeup remover wipes.
3. Toning blossom water
After I take off my makeup I like to cleanse all the last bits of product off my face with blossom water.
My skin loves cornflower and orange blossom water. But you can choose another blossom water, like witch hazel for oily skin, rose water for sensitive skin or chamomile water for red, irritated skin.
4. Moisturizing facial oil
These last few months I’ve rediscovered facial oils as a moisturizer.
I’ve been using pure grapeseed oil for a while now and I love it. My skin has never looked this healthy, plump and clear!
To face the winter ahead I decided to step up my game with my own personal blend. I mixed together 1 tbsp. vitamin E oil, 1 tbsp. castor oil to fight acne, 1 tbsp. tamanu oil for anti aging and 10 tbsp. of sweet almond oil for moisture.
I had to get used to the strong smell of the tamanu oil, but so far my skin has been loving it.
Just remember, a little goes a long way with these facial oils!
5. Creamy under eye treatment
To give my under eye area a much needed boost I also made a under eye treatment.
I only use this in the evening as it’s far too creamy to use during the day or under makeup.
For this eye cream I melted together 1 tsp. of moisturizing avocado butter with 1/2 tsp. of anti ageing rose hip seed oil and 1/2 tsp. of vitamin E oil.
Or you can make my Kiehl’s inspired DIY under eye treatment.
6. Blemish be Gone Zit zapper Gel
And last but certainly not least, this anti spot treatment has become a staple in my skin care routine. after I apply my moisturizer in the evening I dab a little bit of this product on any spots I might have on my face.
Get a good night sleep and … poof!
They are gone (or at least visibly reduced) by the next morning!
This is the recipe for my DIY anti acne gel.

Lotions are great to use but more than oils are more better. Oils are absorbed better by the skin as compared to lotions. Prefer that are made up of natural ingredients.

I made your creamy under eye treatment today and just put it on after my bath. It feels so good and as a big Keihl's fan, you nailed it! As a 62 year old I want to tell you that you are smart to start moisturizing now with anti-aging products. My Grandmother started me on moisturizer when I was 13. We live down here on the Gulf Coast in Mississippi (right across the road from the gulf itself) and she said the sun would make me look like a raisin by the time I was 40. Well, yuck, who wants to look like a raisin? We recently moved back home from the Pacific Northwest and I had to show my new doctor my drivers license before he'd believe how old I was. So, keep up the moisturizing and you'll never look like a raisin!
