Make your own zit zappin’ gel! You only need two simple ingredients: aloe vera gel and an essential oil with antibacterial properties, like tea tree oil.
- What I used:
1 tbsp. of aloe vera gel
6 – 12 drops of tea tree essential oil or lavender EO
Some people don’t like the smell of tea tree oil but I’ve gotten used to the scent by now. Lavender essential oil is a good alternative to fight acne as well. But my skin just reacts amazingly to tea tree oil!
In a bowl I mixed 1 heaping tablespoon of aloe vera gel with 12 drops of tea tree oil.
I’ve used undiluted tea tree oil on my skin before, but 12 drops diluted in aloe vera gel might already be a bit much for some.
If you’re trying this DIY yourself I recommend starting with 6 drops and testing it out first.
For my aloe vera gel I used the store bought 99, 9 % percent pure kind. As much as I love it straight from the plant, the store bought version comes with preservatives in it. If you do want to make it with fresh gel, I recommend making it fresh every time you want to use it.
I wanted to put my zit zapper gel in one of those fancy roll on containers, but the gel turned out to be a little bit too thick. So I put it in a dropper bottle instead. That way I don’t have to dip my fingers in the gel every time I use it (way better for its shelf life).
I just drop a drop of my zit zappin’ gel on my finger tip and dab it on those pesky spots!
Lately I’ve been using just aloe vera gel as a night time moisturizer. I love how it keeps my skin moisturized but doesn’t make my face shine like a bowling ball. After I’ve applied the aloe vera gel all over my face I dab a very small amount of my anti acne gel onto spots that are popping up.
If you like this DIY then don’t forget to put a pin on it! 🙂
