Lately I’ve been seeing pumpkins and autumn leaves popping up everywhere. Everybody’s getting ready for fall and I’m still obsessing over summer. I mean, have you seen the weather lately?
Celebrate summer a little longer with this customized ice cream popsicle tee shirt. The perfect back to school craft!
What you’ll need:
A white shirt
Piece of cardboard
Fabric scraps in different patterns or colors
Fabric glue
Gold or brown ribbon
Needle and thread (optional)
Make sure you don’t glue both sides of your shirt together. Slip a piece of cardboard in between both sides.
Cut 3 rectangular strips from different pieces of fabric. Cut one side of one rectangle into a rounded shape. This will be the top of your popsicle. Fold all the straight horizontal edges of the straps. This way you create clean edges. The vertical edges will be covered by the ribbon.
Carefully glue the fabric onto the shirt. A few dollops of glue along the edges and corners should do.
Ribbon time! I created the stick of the popsicle with brown or gold ribbon. To get a clean edge I also applied the ribbon all around the ice cream.
Create the stick with an extra piece of ribbon.
To make the design even more durable I quickly sewed over the ribon with a needle and thread. Depending on the strength of your fabric glue you might not need to do this.
Now this is what I call summer on a shirt!
