DIY Face Soap Bars – without soap!

DIY Face Soap Bars – without soap!

You won’t believe how easy it is to make your own Facial Cleansing Bars. These are all-natural and only contain simple ingredients. And it’s all made without soap! Clays cleanse and balance, oatmeal soothes sensitive skin and honey gives it its moisture back.

Pop it in a tin and it makes a perfect travel friendly cleanser. I use one of these bars for one week. Mornings and evenings.

What you’ll need to make 3 DIY Face Soap Bars:

  • 1/6 cup (2 tbsp.) white kaolin clay
  • 1/6 cup (2 tbsp.) green clay
  • 4 tbsp. finely ground oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp. honey
  • 2 tbsp. Shea butter

1. Melt your Shea butter in a double boiler

Ooor put in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 30 seconds. I’m not saying I sometimes take the easy route and do this, just saying to microwave the butter for another 30 seconds if it’s not completely melted. Or so I’ve heard 😉

2. Add your clays and oatmeal

Wait until your Shea butter has cooled down a bit. Never use metal utensils when you’re working with clays. It makes the clay loose its effectiveness. I use a not so very sexy plastic spoon.

I choose white kaolin clay and green clay because they are great for balancing sensitive skin!

3. Scoop in your honey

Time for the magic ingredient, honey! So simple yet so beautiful. Add it to the mixture and stir it all together with a spoon.

Pour the concoction in your molds. As the Shea butter starts to harden, the mixture will become almost moldable. Let it sit overnight – at the least. These take a while to completely solidify.

Once your DIY Face Soap Bars are firm, pop them out of their mold and they’re ready for use!

Keep them away from heat as the cleansing soap bars might melt in high temperature environments.

Store your freshly made cleansing bars in a tin or box with a lid to keep all water and other contaminants out.

When you’re using a face soap bar, make sure to let the bar air dry completely after each use and use them up within a three days.

As these bars are made without a broad spectrum preservative it’s important to keep an eye out for signs of spoilage. If in doubt, just throw it away and use another one.

And, most importantly, enjoy!

Hi, I have really enjoyed your website. I was wondering if you have been able to crack the recipe for Lush Dream Wash. I am a huge fan of Lush but not the prices. I finally found something that works awesome for my daughter and myself. We both suffer from Eczema and other skin irritants, I am also dealing with some form of Auto Immune disorder, but I have been a mystery so far, They don't know what is wrong with me yet. Anyways. I am sure I am not the only one that has asked. But I would love a shower smoothie recipe. Something I can make at home. Thank you for all that you do.. Heidi
