Chalkboard paint has become a big trend lately.
And chalkboard paint companies know it.
That’s why they ask insane prices for tiny tins.
Luckily Pinterest is flooded with DIY chalkboard paint methods. So I decided to give it a try myself!
- 1 cup of paint
- 2 tbsp of unsanded tile grout
Yes, grout. I think the idea behind it is to create some sort of sandpaper for the chalk.
Does it work?
It does! When you write on your board with chalk, letters appear.
Would I recommend it?
No matter how fine your grout is, the surface will always be a little bit coarse.
It’s nice for small projects, but if you are tackling a wall in your new interior, I would play it safe and go for the expensive store option.
The DIY paint is probably also a bit too heavy for labels or paper in general. So here again the store one trumps the DIY version.
But all in all it’s a fun, quick, cheap DIY!
